Great place to learn about Monroe County.

This is a great museum that covers the history of Monroe County, The history is interesting because the area once had a much larger population. The company town of Buxton is well done and explains the rise and fall of this racially integrated coal town located in Bluff Creek Township. The cool air conditioning inside the old trollie barn is nice on a hot summer day. Make sure to visit the school house out back. Albia has always been a big train town and it makes this museum a must see for train lovers. Very limited hours so plan accordingly.

This place is AMAZING!!! The exhibits are nicely done and are always being enhanced with newly donated or found treasures. It is a must see if you are in the area.
